Does modern technology confuse you? Astounded by the internet? Do you want to take part but don’t know where to start? Then the CareCo How To… Guide series is here to help! Following on from our previous posts on how to set up online accounts and internet security, today we’re going to show you how to find discount codes and offers that can be used online.
The internet is a great tool if you’re looking to save money on your shopping. Not only are certain items cheaper online than if bought in-store, but you can also save money by using online-only discount codes. Online codes and offers are available to customers to persuade them to continue to shop with a store or entice them in if they haven’t done so before. Online discounts work in the same way as ones you’d find in physical stores – it may be a percentage off code, a multi-buy offer, or free delivery – with a special coded sequence (e.g. 1234ABCD) needed to be entered at the checkout stage (similar to when you hand a voucher to a sales assistant). But where can you find the best online discounts? Read on to find out more!
Signing up for business newsletters is one of the best ways of getting great discounts on products you’re interested in. Newsletters may be sent out once a day, week or month and will arrive in your e-mail inbox, packed with information about a company’s latest products, news and, of course, offers. Whether you sign up to receive newsletters from your favourite supermarket, clothing store or electronics outlet, the newsletters you receive are bound to feature at least one discount code or offer.
The best example we could find is the CareCo newsletter! Sent out once a week, our newsletter is filled with information about our latest products, our monthly competition and this blog! Plus, if you sign up to receive it you’ll be sent a £5 off discount code for your next order over £50! Why wait?! Sign up today!
Alongside newsletters you can also find great discount codes on various websites dedicated to helping you save money.
Founded by Martin Lewis, journalist and money saving expert, MoneySavingExpert is filled with advice on how to save money on virtually everything, from claiming back compensation to finding you the best mobile phone pay plan. With a section dedicated to Shopping and Discount Codes, the site collects all of the best current offers and advertises them to its users – think of it as a database for deals.
In partnership with MSE, MoneySupermarket is another great site to use if you’re looking for the best online deals. As the website address suggests, you can use the site as you would a supermarket, browsing for the cheapest offers to save you money. Their section for Vouchers allows you to type in your desired store or product to see if there’s a relevant code you can use to save money – it’s that simple!
VoucherCloud’s focus is saving you money when you shop either in-store or online, giving you the choice to use online codes or mobile/printed vouchers, enabling you to save money whether you’re purchasing new homeware, planning a holiday or simply going out for dinner.
Similar in focus to our previous choices, HotUKDeals is set out in a forum format. Users sign-up to not only help themselves save money but to let others know what deals are around. Whether it’s an online discount code or a popular product reduced in a supermarket, the users of HotUKDeals are there to help you save.
Of course, there are many other trustworthy websites out there that aim to help you find the cheapest offers, it’s just a matter of looking for them. Alternatively, you can use your favourite search engine to find deals by typing into the search bar the product you want and ‘discount’ or ‘offer’ – you’re bound to find something!
